Its that time of year again and as the temperature rises then the Ants start to multiply.

Why do ants come indoors?

The ants found indoors are usually worker ants, which are foraging for food for the queen and the grubs. They have found that buildings inhabited by humans are a good source of provision, particularly sweet or sugary items.

Do ants do any harm?

Although it is unpleasant and a nuisance to find a large number of them in your home, black ants do not transmit any serious diseases. However, you should remember as well that the ants may have travelled through unpleasant or dirty places during their foraging and before entering your home. This means that they can taint any food, making it unsuitable to eat. Ant colonies can consist of thousands of insects which can excavate large cavities within walls and beneath floors which can cause problems over a period of time.

What treatments can we carry out?

First we need to track the Ants back to their nests, so don’t try to spray them with any substances otherwise you will disturb their natural track. Once we have located their nests we can treat the areas with an insecticide pumping the required treatment right to the heart of the nest. Sometimes their nests are within a wall cavity so we can carry out our no mess cavity treatments to control the ants.
